Rusty Latham is running for the Arkansas House of Representatives (District 1) and he needs our prayer support. He is a Christian.
Rusty Latham is a fourth generation Miller County resident. He is the third oldest of four children and a graduate of Genoa Central High School. Throughout his school years Rusty played basketball and ran track. In high school he participated in a vocational program where learned to build and repair small engines. He excelled at this craft, placing and even winning regional, state and national competitions. This skill landed Rusty numerous scholarships at colleges and universities throughout the state of Arkansas, but he felt he had a higher calling and chose to join the National Guard.
Rusty served six years in the National Guard as a combat medic. He received training at Fort Sam Houston, Fort Leonard Wood, and Fort Hood. After an honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Miller County where he joined Genoa Baptist Church and became the youth pastor. The group started with four youth, but the Lord used Rusty’s service and dedication to develop this group into about 35 people by the time he left. Since then he has also served as the youth pastor at Arabella Heights and is currently serving as the assistant director of youth at Unity Missionary Baptist Church.
As a servant leader Rusty has ministered to many troubled kids as they faced drug and alcohol addictions, trouble in school, and single-mother households, often serving as a role model to those without a father. Many of these youth keep in touch with Rusty today and credit him with having a huge impact on their lives.
We need more like him running for office, and we need to support those that do. So please pray for him as he campaigns.
